Dogs help you live longer

Last year, Dogs in Canada magazine published one of my articles, WALKING THE DOG. It's now up on the Dogs in Canada website.

The article is about my friend, Alana who has Cystic Fibrosis. Her goofy dogs are keeping her alive. See how by checking out my article here!

Excerpt:
Alana’s neighbours grew accustomed to the sight of her pulling a wagon with Magnus sitting proudly. They could set their clocks by the morning, noon and evening walks.

Great article. It's so inspiring how your friend keeps up her exercise. My husband has a different lung problem and his lungs probably look like hers. He's on oxygen and has so little energy (work takes it all). I wish he'd walk even up and down the driveway. He wants a dog when he medically retires. I wish he'd be the one to walk him/her. I've never had a dog so I'm a bit nervous but will probably love him/her once I get over that it'll be more work for me.

Congratulations! And I think people with pets live longer. They are dedicated, loving, and give us a reason to live.

Awesome - congrats. Animals definitely help humans relax and slow down to enjoy life more. :)

What a great article! I love the part where Nina said, "I can only imagine the talks she has with her dogs." Very sweet and inspiring- makes me want to take walk :)

Our dog has helped us live fuller lives. I have no doubt. Now he's getting up there in doggie years and its sad. He can only walk to tha mail box and back these days, but he still gets around.

Just read the article. Heartwarming and beautifully written.

I have three dogs. I cannot imagine life without them. They give me what 'most' humans can't - unconditional love.

Lovely post.

Great article, TerryLynn! It makes me appreciate my goofy Golden Retriever Hudson even more. Dogs really just want our companionship and love and they give it back a thousand times over.

And this is why dogs are often referred to as "best friends." Thanks for this, Terry!

That is so cool! Dogs are so cute. I have children with allergies to most of them, so we don't have one, but the begging for one never stops. =)
