I feel the need to confess something a little decadent. Today, I had the WHOLE day to write. And I wrote a total of ONE paragraph. I then spent the rest of the day shopping for books on line.
Shameful. Shameful. Shameful!
In my defense - it was raining outside and I'm about to go canoe camping for three days. I just didn't feel like getting wet. Oh, wait, that's not much of a defense for not writing.
Anyway.
now a little grin creeps across my face as I show what I bought....
I also bought several more on my KOBO reader!
Lots of Elevensies love here. I LOVE my fantastic group of debut authors!!! I've also just finished reading a few more fabulous Elevensies which will all be featured in my next installment of ELEVENSIES GIVEAWAYS. Stay tuned.
The Windup Girl was a must after reading SHIP BREAKER. Words cannot describe how much I loved that book!
And I know, it's about time I read Black Star, Bright Dawn. Especially considering Scot O'Dell is one of my favourite authors. To be honest, I've been a little shy to read it, but I was feeling brave today.
Okay, so anyone else have an uncontrollable book purchasing problem? Help me out here.

I don't have an e-reader. I can see how an e-reader would lead you down that decadent path. :) So you did your part for the industry in a different way today. But I know what you mean -- it feels so rotten to putter away a writing day on other stuff. I'm trying hard to learn that.
I do spend time I should write online too. So don't feel bad. I'm buying more books too and then giving them away on my blog. It's for a good cause. I'm jealous you bought Divergent. I can't wait to read it. I loved Nightshade City. Happy reading!
I've been buying too many books lately too--because some wonderful authors are coming to our Indie bookstore. But I love buying books like that. I've also found some must reads in the used part of our Indie store. So again, I feel great about that. And my daughter used half of a gift card to buy books--so awesome. I can't wait to pick up some of the books in your picture! They look awesome.
My blog the other day was "My Name is Liz and I am a Book Addict." So, nah, I don't have a problem at all.
Is that denial?:D
Buying books is never shameful :) Although, I am addicted as well so I might just be saying that to justify my own behavior :)
You will LOVE Black Star Bright Dawn - amazing book.
I finished Dogsled Dreams not long ago...
Happy Reading :)
there is just something about buying books/visiting a bookstore that delights me. I feel as if I am entering a time machine ready to go into the world the author created. Geez I love books!
Ooh, that sounds delightful. I walked past a second hand bookshop the other day and thought I'd go in. Just to see, you know? Came out a half hour later with a sackful, and at least three books to add to my wishlist. Ah well, supporting a local bookstore can't be a bad thing!
Book buying urges? Yep. My husband rolled his eyes as he handed me yet another package from Amazon. And that was after I came home with books from my local indie.
*hangs head in shame*

Just finished Divergent and OHHHHHHH IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD.
Oh yes, I have a terrible book-buying problem. In fact, I feel another rampage coming on!
Have fun with your new purchases!
AWESOME! No guilt at all!
I loved Shipbreaker!!! And, I've got a pretty hefty book buying habit myself, and no e-reader--yet.
Yes, I have this problem. And it's so easy to order books on my Kindle or Kindle app for my phone. But it makes me so happy.
I think one of the reasons I haven't bought an e-reader yet is because it would make it too easy to buy books! Instead, I make weekly visits to the public library (and wait and hope for some to arrive).
ha ha! Isn't that the way it goes? Dying to find time to write - and then when you get it - you fiddle-fart around with other things. You're not alone! And looks like it was a fun, productive day in other ways!
I'm back to stacks (literally) of new books to read, but I haven't the attention span to do so yet. Books are a clear addiction in my house.
April was a bad month for me as far as buying books because well, it was a good month for buying books. See, I may have gone overboard. But what can I say? Books make me happy.
I find I can't write if I feel 'the pressure'- so I never set aside a whole day to write but rather get it done whenever I can and I get so much more done that way. I get write fright.;) Some great pics there! I've been meaning to order nightshade city!
I'm seriously dangerous in a bookstore, which is why I limit my trips (then go wild). The e-reader feeds most of my "instant needs." That's a great pile you have going! :)
Oooh, I like those. I'm going to get Divergent after reading the first chapter. Think I might have to do a bit of 'writing' (ie online shopping now).

Ha! Reading is an essential part of writing, so it totally counts. I'm coveting your covers.
I spent so much $ on books in the last month. I'm afraid to list them because the sticker shock would get me!
I've seen THE WINDUP GIRL before around the Net it sounds like such a cool book with super intriguing setting and plot! You bought some great books, Terry!
yeah. it's a bit of a problem, too as i have no income. i have access to massive libraries too!
It sounds like you had a lovely day. What could be better than buying books? I loved Nightshade City!
I'm trying to stay clear of the bookstore right now. I've have too many books in my TBR pile to buy anymore for a bit.
It's been far too long since I stopped by your blog, but you've made an impression and I haven't forgotten you or your book - and that's saying something since I'm so forgetful sometimes. :)
Looks like you have a great new pile of books to read. Have fun!
