yes, that's my thumb. Hubby at Flowerpot Island. |
When we crossed Lake Huron to South Bay Mouth, I was extremely nervous. For two hours until I calmed down, I gripped my paddle so hard that I injured myself. My fingers would hardly work for a day and half afterwards! But it felt great to have done it!
Excerpt of famous moment on trip. Bruce Penninsula. 8pm.
Hubby - Does that sound like a boat coming our way?
Me - Nope. We're all clear.
*strips down to bathe in the lake after 12 hours of paddling in the hot sun. Stands naked balancing on rocks and boulders in ankle-deep water.
Me - AAUUGH!! It's a boat. RIGHT THERE!!!
*sneaky boat moving very slowly appears around the corner 30 meters away.
Hubby - It's a TOUR boat! Full of tourists!!
Me - My shirt! For the love of all that is holy, throw me my shirt!!
*crouches awkwardly as the boat loaded with at least 50 people on the fly bridge, chugs along the shoreline for unobstructed, glorious view of the rock cliffs which we are camped on. And naked.
Hubby - They have cameras
Me - yes. I see that.
Hubby - they're waving.
*hubby waves back. The boat finally passes. We giggle for the rest of the evening. "Does that sound like a boat", becomes the phrase of the week.
Anyhoo, here are a few more photos - but don't worry, all fully clothed. As usual, click on any photo to view larger.

Looks like a lot of fun, but I'll pass on the nakedness. Think your photo has appeared anywhere online yet?
Beautiful photos, Terry! So next month when we head to Canada we should expect to see the natives naked in any lakes we drive by?
I'm amazed at the huge trip you took. Congratulations for completing it.
Great photos!! Sign me up for next year!!!
Great photos! It sounds like it was an amazing trip. :)
Love it! Thanks for the naked story. Hopefully those pics don't show up on the internet.
Ahahahaha! *falls over laughing*
I would have died. Just...curled up and died. That's hilarious. :)
Um. No story comes to mind that even matches naked kayak story. Had to read it to my husband---roared. If I ever go kayaking with him (he really, really wants to do a trip like that) I will bathe in bathing suit, lol!!! Thanks for sharing pics!
Haha, that's great. I love the part about the waving. :-) And thanks for sharing those gorgeous pictures!
Poor you!! But that's going to make a fun story for years! :)
Thanks for sharing your photos - they are spectacular.
Thank you for warning me about the dangers of naked kayaking.
The rock in the 2nd-to-last picture is gorgeous!
Gorgeous! And your husband rocks for waving back!! LOL
The hubs and I canoed the boundary waters a zillion years ago. It was amazing (but no nakedness outside the tent!). Thanks for taking me back... :)
Hilarious story about the tour boat! And what gorgeous pics from your vacations. I'm so envious!
Beautiful pictures. And that's a funny story.
Those pictures are breathtaking.
Oh, no, tourists with cameras. They pop up at the most inopportune times. ;)
Gorgeous photos! Thanks so much for sharing, including the story of your near-escape :-)
Maybe they would have joined you had you invited. HAHA!
wow, those landscapes look dreamlike, Terry!
