Revisions coming along

"We swim because we are too sexy for a sport that requires clothes."
Unknown

This is my friend Jackie, the powerhouse flyer, who has talked me into swimming with her at the Provincial Swim Competition in London. I thought that was a fine idea back in January. Now it's less than two weeks away and I'm wishing I had remembered that I'm not very fast. Which is why I'm doing the 1500 metre this year. (as well as all the backstroke races) Slow and steady.

I need to remember that when I get anxious about the time it takes to revise a manuscript. I've just sent off, I think, the last big round of edits for Dogsled Dreams.

How does Stephen King whip out those novels so fast?

Stephen King has a team. You are just one person. I look forward to reading your book a hundred times as much as I do with his.

Good luck with the swimming!

Yes, King has a team, all the time in the world, and every creature comfort imaginable.

Swimming in London? That sounds like way too much fun. Good luck.

I can't wait to read Dogsled Dreams! :-)

Great quote and a great metaphor. I have to remember too.

Good luck with the revisions, I'm anxious to start revisions, too. And good luck with swimming. I can't even swim, wish I could.

Slow and steady. So true. I love how so many things have a parallel to writing.

Terry, you are like a fitness goddess! How old are you? Seriously. I'm 53 with physical limitations, so a workout could be walking to the kitchen!!!

I'm hoping you're going to tell me you're in your 20's.....

30's?

Oy.

I'm sending that quote to my neice (she's a swimmer) asap :)

Slow and steady pretty much describes me too. Good luck with the swims!

Good luck, TerryLynn! And thanks for saying you'd leave a review on Amazon for Lemur Troops for me. I really appreciate it! :)

Nice pic! Boy I look good=) don't worry after the 200 fly , i won't look that good. And the reason you are doing this, is it is fun to try new things and exercise in a fun, non stressful environment, and i am lots of fun to be around, well after the 400 IM anyway. And swimming is fun, and relays are a blast, so suck it up princess and go fast=)

I think you get faster and more efficient as you go. At least that's what one of my very published writing buddies says.

Geez Louise I'm almost 22 and I can barely swim across a pool without wanting to fall asleep from being exhausted! Good luck with the swimming and your revisions. I look forward to reading your novel very soon!

Way to go, Terry, for finishing the editing. That's such a hard process. I hope it went well, and that you're celebrating. (Every step deserves celebration, right?)

Look at the comments! Wow, you guys rock.

Jon - I did not know that! cool. And thanks for the support!

Diane - thanks!

Mary - I actually can't say that either, but perhaps it will be true if I post it on my blog.

Shannon - I'm pretty excited! And thank you for your comments about my book. I'm starting to get a little stage-frighty thinking that people will be able to read it!

Tina - thanks for stopping in.

Janet - It's a good sport for me, pudge floats!

Caroline - this is a huge compliment coming from YOU! I'm thinking perhaps I haven't explained well how I'm probably NOT bringing home medals.

Marcia - it's true! you can relate just about everything!

PJ - One of the reasons I'm going to the competition is that I'm in a new age category. I'm hoping the 40 - 44 year-olds are slower than last year!

Jemi - thanks, I thought it was funny too.

Rena - I did try, but it's looking like I'm technically challenged. I'll try again soon.

Jackie - now everyone can see what a mean swim coach you are.

Sharon - yes, I can see that. Practice...

Erica - thank you!

Heather - me neither! the things you learn on blogs.

Mindy - That is so cute that you're 22 and you say Geez Louise!

thanks anon!

It's always good to do strange and wonderful things the older we get. It keeps us young.

Seems I recall King having several hundred publication rejections before hitting it big. Maybe we'll all fondly recall TLJ's early determination when she's a mainstay on the bookstore shelves.

(Were you bad talking the plus 40 crowd?)

What is your publication date? Amy's got moved up to July...
