Book jackets and good reads

Holy new followers! WELCOME! I'll list you all, as my habit, when I announce the winner of my book giveaway. Don't forget to enter. Ends April 23.

I suddenly have a little stage fright, so I'm going to talk about an easy subject today. Here's some great books I've read recently:

I enjoyed this one even more than The Forest of Hands and Teeth. Just amazing writing. And it stayed with me for my drive to London. When approaching all the concrete ramps of the major highways, I imagined them covered in zombies - a scene in the book. Sign of a good book - when you see dead people.

This book was original and well written. Kept me awake till 2am reading it. Just great characters and an interesting premise. I'll be awaiting the next book.
Loved this! I couldn't help be transported back to my awkward high school days - not that I wanted to! A contemporary Judy Blume. Comes with a great message also. Can you guess what it is?

Also, I ran across this book jacket on a blog - left image, and it hooked me enough to go check it out. Curious, there seem to be two different covers, the version on the right I've seen before. But it hasn't prompted me to pick it up. What a difference a book jacket makes. I seriously don't need any excuses to be even more neurotic while I wait for my cover.

Question: Which cover do you like? And, would you reccommend this book?

I still need to read the Forest of Hands and Teeth because I really want to read Dead-Tossed Waves! Guess I better get to it!

No need Jen, you can read DTW all on its own!

I like the blue cover too - much more interesting. I'm a visual person. I see why they put Patterson's name so large - they sell so many books on his name along - but I wouldn't pick it up either.

The Maximum Ride series has been repackaged a bunch of times to try to appeal to YA readers as well as to adult Patterson fans. Even though it's been a big hit, I guess the series wasn't selling nearly as much as his previous (adult) books; it's interesting to see how they try to broaden the books' appeal through marketing.

I also really liked Magic Under Glass!

MUG and DTW both look amazing. Read Maximum Ride!! I really like that series and if you're a fan of action then you should enjoy it. (Even if it is James Patterson writing.)

Of the ones you've posted, the Maximum Ride is the best. I like artwork on my covers - that's what draws me in...

Some great books, Terry!! A few I've read and a few I haven't. Maximum Ride is a fast read. I like the cover on the right, probably b/c that's the one I read several years ago, lol. Cheers!

I enjoyed The Forest of Hands and Teeth and hope to read Dead Tossed Waves soon. The blue cover of Maximum Ride is the best, at least for ya readers. Ilike the book.

What I need is to read a book by you about how you find the time to read all these books. LOL

Oh I want to read all of these! I would tend to pick the Patterson novel cover on the left because it seems more girly maybe.

If I'm familiar with the author then I order a book without paying attention to the packaging....but if a book is by someone I don't know - the very GIRLY packaging PUTS me OFF dramatically. I was always a tom boy so those covers make me cringe a bit....sorry you ultra feminine Ladies!!!

I love looking at covers and thinking about how they affect my reading them. I haven't read any of these. Thanks for the recs! Really looking forward to Dead Tossed Waves.

I think the warm colors are more suspenseful and since that's Patterson's forte, I'd choose the one on the right. I haven't read it, so I can't recommend it.

Magic Under Glass is a new one to me. It looks good!
