Adventures in South Carolina

Myrtle Beach photo montage and short list of cool things:
  • the southern accents. Couldn't understand the waitress - but tres cool
  • being introduced to a little store called Books a Million
  • hand feeding the enthusiastic ducks at Broadway at the Beach
  • discovering what the heck GRITS are anyway
  • learning about the forest ecology at Brookside Gardens
  • having a snowball fight
  • watching the pelicans swallowing wiggly fish - that's gotta hurt
  • spending time with family - lots of laughing
  • the Myrtle Beach Aquarium
  • my brother missing the return flight home - heh heh heh heh

Thank you everyone for all the vacation well-wishes and condolences on the weather. We didn't mind the snow one bit - but the annual marathon was cancelled!

Great photos - love the shark!

So, what the heck are grits anyway???

Hah! funny Jemi! I thought I was the only Canadian who read about grits but has never seen them. I thought they must be some sort of french fry - but grits is like a porridge dish.

What a fun time you must be having. Grits-- Never liked them as much as I wanted to. Just as well, I sure don't need the extra padding. LOL

Love the snow shots. That is so cool! The rest of the shots are of course awsome. Stay safe and have fun!

As someone born and raised in the South, I need to point out that grits are only as good as the stuff you put on them. You can't go better than sharp cheddar and far more butter than is good for you. : )

Wonderful! So different from your home, huh? I know it was cold and there was snow, but it wasn't the cold or snow you're used to nowadays, was it?

More photos please.

Was the aquarium the Ripley's aquarium? Because that is one of the best ones I've ever seen.

You discovered BAM? I know a lot of authors who don't consider that a real book store! LOL Hate the one in our town. There used to be a wonderful Waldenbooks right across the mall from that BAM, too. Sad.

When I'm in the South, I can't believe how slow some of them talk. I remember being at a restaurant and it felt like forever for the cashier to list off the salad dressings for me. But, I'm sure I talked way too fast too.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE grits - and I'm not even southern! :-)

Great pics, but it's even greater to have you back. You were missed! :-)

Sarah is right about the grits--they need a lot of stuff to make them good.

Thanks everyone! I seem to have started a debate on GRITS. Too funny!
I took this shark photo at the Ripley's Aquarium as he swam over my head. It was a very cool set-up.

My husband likes grits, but I don't. Of course he never gets them, because I don't cook them. Glad you had a good time.
